  • Navjeevan Care and Support Centre

Navjeevan Care and Support Centre was established on 18th September 2004. Managed by Navjeevan Trust for the well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS, Navjeevan CSC gives new life to such people through home-based care and community-based rehabilitation.

This was a response to a Sign of the Times. As HIV/AIDS patients further suffer from rejection by society, the Centre is an open house looked after by the Dev Priya Sisters who also reside there. Patients get nutritious food, medication and counseling. But the Sisters don’t just work indoors. They reach out to families in the neighboring slums. As they come to learn of persons suffering from the HIV virus they encourage them to come to Navjeevan for treatment.

The Sisters even visit such patients at the Civil Hospital at Rajkot. Besides, guidance is given to the care-givers and families who have a member down with this disease. Volunteers who give part-time service undergo training sessions on health-related issues. There are also Referral Services with hospitals and laboratories. Since 2008, there has been a 10-bed recuperation unit. All such outreaches call for much courage and faith, evident from the way the Sisters respond to these challenges.
